DAY 2 : WELLINGTON, SA - ALDINGA BEACH, SA

Tuesday, 30 March, 2010 Ferry crossing at Wellington...

The ferry man
After crossing the river we travelled north of Lake Alexandrina where the Murray flows into the sea. The road only afforded us quick glimpses of the water and the low lying arid country got more interesting as we came into vineyards near Strathalbyn. Many farmhouses and outbuildings were made of stone with brick edging as were many of the buildings in this pretty town. The above Britannia Foundry is a typical example.

Climbed higher across the Fleurieu Peninsula to Mt Compass and then came down over the hills to a beautiful vista of the coast and the lower suburbs of Adelaide. Our destination is Aldinga Beach where we will visit Bev's son, Justin and his family.

Aldinga Beach where you can drive on the sand. In the 1920's and 30's car and motorbike races were held on the beach.
A high school sports surfing class....

Booked into Beach Woods Eco Tourist Park in Aldinga Beach..... a lovely shady caravan park with geese, chickens and turkeys wandering about!

A path opposite the front entrance leads down to Maslin Beach - a nude beach! (Wolfgang banned!)

Spent the afternoon with Justin, Corben and Inara - how much she's grown, now a chubby, smiling six month old. She's a beautiful little girl with dark hair and blue eyes and a happy, contented nature.

Justin and I took Corben to Toys'R'Us to buy him a present.... he tried out all the bikes, cubby houses, etc. Could not get him away from the place... absolute heaven for a 2 1/2 year old.

Michaela came home early from work and made a delicious tea.
