DAY 126 - TIMBER CREEK

2 August 2010.  Early this morning we left Kununurra in WA.  About 40 kms east of the town we crossed the border into the Northern Territory on our way to Timber Creek (about half way to Katherine).
We went in search of Gouldian Finches at Policeman's Point on the Victoria River.  Saw lots of finches but no Gouldians.
A pair of White-Bellied Sea-Eagles swooped across the river looking for fish.  These birds maintain a permanent territory.  While we were here we met a most interesting man, Rob Gray, a professional photographer who lives on the road with his wife and has converted a 20 ton army truck into a mobile home - you MUST check out his website to see his home and breathtaking photographs:

Long-Tailed Finches and Masked Finches

Next morning we hit the road again on our way to Katherine.  We stopped at Joe Creek in the Gregory National Park.......
Tall palms grew on the escarpment.........

A vine winds it way around a tree...........
This was a beautiful wildflower which bloomed on the end of slender stems
Purple Mulla-Mulla
These exquisite tiny flowers were no larger than the tip of your small finger......
